About credit checks in Sri Lanka
The Credit Information Bureau of Sri Lanka (CRIB) keeps a record of the loans, leases and credit cards each person holds and how they have been repaid. Banks and finance companies check your CRIB report and score before they approve a loan or a credit card, and the result can affect the rate you are offered.
Checking your own report first lets you spot mistakes and see what a lender will see. Paying on time, keeping card balances low and not applying for many facilities at once all help your score.
