About AnyBanq

What is AnyBanq?

AnyBanq (anybanq.lk) is a Sri Lankan financial comparison platform. It brings interest rates, fees, features and eligibility for loans, credit cards, fixed deposits, savings accounts and leasing from 25+ banks and licensed finance companies into one place, so you can compare options side by side and apply online.

Is AnyBanq free to use?

Yes. Comparing products, using the calculators, reading news and taking AnyBanq courses is completely free for consumers. You never pay AnyBanq to apply for a product.

Is AnyBanq a bank? Does it lend money?

No. AnyBanq is not a bank and does not lend money or issue cards itself. It is an independent comparison and application platform. Your loan, card or deposit is always provided by the bank or finance company you choose.

Where does AnyBanq's product data come from?

Rates and product details are collected from banks' public resources such as official websites and published rate sheets, and are refreshed regularly. Always confirm the final rate with the bank before signing, as banks can change rates at any time.

How does applying through AnyBanq work?

When you tap Apply on a product, AnyBanq securely forwards your application details to the selected bank, which then contacts you to complete its own verification and approval process. Approval decisions are made entirely by the bank.

Is my personal data safe with AnyBanq?

AnyBanq collects only the information needed to process your application or account, uses it per our Privacy Policy, and shares application details only with the bank you choose. You can read the full policy at anybanq.lk/privacy-policy.

What are AnyBanq Courses and certificates?

AnyBanq Courses are short online courses on personal finance, loans and credit cards. Complete the lessons, pass the final test and you earn a verifiable certificate with a shareable link you can add to your LinkedIn profile.

Personal loans

How do I get a personal loan in Sri Lanka?

Choose a bank or licensed finance company, check its eligibility rules (age, minimum income, employment), and submit an application with your NIC, salary slips or proof of income, and bank statements. On Anybanq you can compare personal loan interest rates and maximum amounts across Sri Lankan banks and apply online.

What documents are needed for a personal loan in Sri Lanka?

Typically your National Identity Card (NIC), last 3 months' salary slips or business income proof, 3–6 months of bank statements, and sometimes a guarantor. Requirements vary by bank — each product page on Anybanq lists the exact documents needed.

What affects personal loan interest rates in Sri Lanka?

Rates depend on the Central Bank of Sri Lanka policy rates, the lender, your income and credit history (CRIB record), the loan amount and tenure, and whether the rate is fixed or variable. Comparing several banks before applying usually saves significantly over the loan term.

Can I get a personal loan with a bad CRIB record?

It is harder but not impossible. Some banks and finance companies consider applicants with past CRIB issues at higher rates or with a guarantor or collateral. Clearing arrears and maintaining six months of clean repayment history improves approval chances.

Housing loans

How much housing loan can I get in Sri Lanka?

Most Sri Lankan banks lend up to 70–80% of the property value, with the installment capped around 40–50% of your monthly income. The maximum amount and tenure (often up to 25 years) vary by bank — compare current housing loan offers on Anybanq.

What documents are needed for a housing loan in Sri Lanka?

NIC, income proof (salary slips or audited accounts), bank statements, the title deed and survey plan of the property, a valuation report, and building approvals. Banks may also require a CRIB report check.

Fixed or variable rate — which is better for a Sri Lankan housing loan?

A fixed rate protects you if market rates rise; a variable (floating) rate is usually lower initially and benefits you when rates fall. Many banks offer a fixed period (1–5 years) followed by a variable rate.

Vehicle loans & leasing

What is the difference between a vehicle loan and leasing in Sri Lanka?

With a vehicle loan the bank lends money and you own the vehicle from day one; with leasing the financier owns the vehicle until you finish paying. Leasing is more common in Sri Lanka and often has simpler approval, while loans can have lower total cost.

How much vehicle financing can I get in Sri Lanka?

Loan-to-value caps set by the Central Bank apply — commonly up to 70% for cars and higher for commercial vehicles. The exact percentage and maximum tenure vary by lender and vehicle type.

Credit cards

What is the minimum salary for a credit card in Sri Lanka?

Most Sri Lankan banks require a minimum monthly income of roughly Rs. 30,000–100,000 depending on the card tier. Entry-level cards have lower thresholds; premium cards (Platinum, World) require higher income. Each card's requirement is listed on Anybanq.

How do credit card interest rates work in Sri Lanka?

If you pay the full statement balance by the due date you pay no interest on purchases. Otherwise interest (capped by the Central Bank, historically around 28–36% per annum) accrues on the outstanding balance. Cash advances attract interest from day one.

Which credit card has the best rewards in Sri Lanka?

It depends on your spending: some cards give supermarket and fuel discounts, others airline miles or cashback. Compare rewards, annual fees and merchant offers across Sri Lankan banks on Anybanq to match a card to your spending pattern.

Debit cards

What is the difference between a debit card and a credit card in Sri Lanka?

A debit card spends money directly from your savings or current account, so you can only use what you have. A credit card borrows from the bank up to a limit and charges interest if you don't settle the bill. Debit cards have no income requirement — any account holder can get one.

Can I use a Sri Lankan debit card for online and foreign payments?

Visa and Mastercard debit cards work for local online payments by default. Foreign-currency transactions usually require you to enable international usage with your bank and are subject to Central Bank of Sri Lanka rules and per-transaction limits.

What fees do debit cards have in Sri Lanka?

Typical charges are a small annual or issuance fee, ATM withdrawal fees at other banks' machines, and a foreign-transaction markup of around 2–3% on overseas spending. Many banks waive fees on premium account tiers — compare card fees on Anybanq.

Fixed deposits

Which bank has the best fixed deposit rates in Sri Lanka?

Rates change frequently with market conditions, and licensed finance companies often pay more than commercial banks in exchange for higher risk. Anybanq lists current fixed deposit rates from Sri Lankan banks and finance companies so you can compare terms side by side.

Is my fixed deposit safe in Sri Lanka?

Deposits in licensed banks and finance companies are covered by the Sri Lanka Deposit Insurance Scheme up to the limit set by the Central Bank (currently Rs. 1.1 million per depositor per institution). Always confirm the institution is licensed by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.

How is fixed deposit interest taxed in Sri Lanka?

Interest income is subject to Advance Income Tax (AIT) withholding — currently 5% for residents on interest paid — and must be declared in your income tax return if you are liable. Rules change with budgets, so check the latest Inland Revenue guidance.

Savings accounts

Which savings account pays the highest interest in Sri Lanka?

Ordinary savings rates are low; higher-yield options include children's savers, senior citizen accounts, and money-market style accounts. Rates vary widely between banks — compare current savings account rates on Anybanq.

What do I need to open a savings account in Sri Lanka?

Your NIC (or passport), proof of address, and a small initial deposit. Foreign residents need visa documentation. Most banks now allow online account opening with digital KYC.
