- What exchange rate does this page show?
- The Central Bank of Sri Lanka's official daily indicative rates, refreshed hourly. They are a reference midpoint, not a rate you can transact at.
- Why is the rate my bank offers different?
- Banks quote a buying rate and a selling rate either side of the indicative midpoint, and the spread differs by bank, by currency and by whether the transfer is cash, telegraphic or a card settlement. Always confirm with the bank before sending money.
- Which rate applies to money sent from abroad?
- Inward remittances are converted at the receiving bank's telegraphic transfer buying rate, which is usually a little below the indicative rate shown here.
- How often are these rates updated?
- The Central Bank publishes once each business day. This page re-reads that publication every hour, so a new rate appears within an hour of release.
