Why is the rate my bank offers different?

Banks quote a buying rate and a selling rate either side of the indicative midpoint, and the spread differs by bank, by currency and by whether the transfer is cash, telegraphic or a card settlement. Always confirm with the bank before sending money.

Which rate applies to money sent from abroad?

Inward remittances are converted at the receiving bank's telegraphic transfer buying rate, which is usually a little below the indicative rate shown here.

How often are these rates updated?
