Frequently asked questions
How does CEB's block tariff work?
Your monthly units are split across consumption blocks, each charged at its own rate, plus a fixed monthly charge that depends on your usage band. Lower-usage households pay substantially less per unit.
Why is my actual bill different from the estimate?
The estimate excludes items like fuel adjustment charges and taxes, uses the simplified block table, and CEB revises tariffs periodically. Use it as a close approximation, not an exact bill.
How can I reduce my electricity bill?
Because the tariff is block-based, cutting usage below a block boundary (e.g. under 60 or 90 units) can reduce your bill disproportionately. Solar net metering is also popular for higher-usage homes.
