Seylan Bank triumphs at prestigious Euromoney Awards 2026 with dual recognition as Sri Lanka’s Best Bank for Customer Experience and Best Bank for SMEs

Seylan Bank has been honoured with dual wins at the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2026, a prestigious recognition, as Sri Lanka’s Best Bank for Customer Experience and the Best Bank for SMEs; two of the most coveted country titles.
Euromoney is a leading international financial publication and market intelligence provider focused on global banking, capital markets, and institutional finance. Recognition from Euromoney reaffirms Seylan Bank’s commitment towards superior customer experience and Small and Medium Enterprise (SMEs) empowerment.
Having previously won the Best Bank for Customer Experience at the Euromoney Awards in 2025, Seylan Bank has retained the title for a second consecutive year, reaffirming the dependability of its specialist support and digital platforms to help individuals and businesses amplify growth and revenue.
The two-fold Euromoney accolades demonstrate international recognition of consistent care for bank customers and the depth of the Bank’s dedicated support for SMEs islandwide, validating years of investment in digital innovation and accessible banking.
Discussing the Bank’s reception of the awards, Director/CEO Ramesh Jayasekara said, “The dual recognition is a proud milestone for Seylan Bank, reaffirming our drive towards more meaningful and customer‑centric banking services. Being named Sri Lanka’s Best Bank for Customer Experience for the second consecutive year, and the award for Best Bank for SMEs, validates our continued investment in people and systems that deliver tangible value.
Seylan Bank's SME award is a significant achievement for a bank firmly established as a catalyst for Small and Medium Enterprise growth in Sri Lanka. The recognition is driven by substantial efforts to empower the SME sector, resulting in the growth of Seylan's SME loan portfolio.
Growth has been driven through purpose-built products addressing the specific barriers SMEs face such as collateral deficits, rising energy costs, and limited expertise in exports. Additionally, tailored propositions for women entrepreneurs grant consistency of service regardless of who is banking.
The Bank's ‘Eco Solar Loan’ finances renewable energy adoption for SMEs and agri businesses, supported by partnerships, offer affordable solar energy systems. The Export Expert programme pairs financing with hands-on guidance on export procedures, documentation, and market access, with a dedicated Trade Hub in Pettah, one of Colombo's principal commercial districts.
Digital investments have seamlessly kept pace with the expansion of the Bank’s product portfolio. Seylan Bank's E-KYC process enables fast and instant account opening. Additionally, the Merchant Portal allows businesses without a website or shopping cart to accept online payments, complementing the Bank's Internet Payment Gateway and Pay Direct services. In 2025, Seylan Bank became the first bank in Sri Lanka to enable Google Pay acquirer services for e-commerce merchants.
