Pan Asia Bank champions a culture of saving through islandwide ‘Operation Savings’ ඉතුරුම් සංග්රාමය - சேமிப்புப் புரட்சி

Pan Asia Bank launched ‘Operation Savings’ (ඉතුරුම් සංග්රාමය) on Saturday, 24th October 2026, mobilising staff across its islandwide branch network in the lead-up to World Thrift Day on 31st October.
Taking the savings message beyond bank branches and directly into the streets, cities, towns and villages of Sri Lanka, the initiative aims to reach people across the country and reinforce the importance of saving and preserving financial resources to build a brighter, more secure future. This islandwide mobilisation enabled 1,200 branch and Head Office staff to engage directly with communities, encouraging Sri Lankans to move beyond the intention to save and take meaningful action towards building a stronger financial future.
The campaign coincides with another milestone: Pan Asia Bank’s 31st anniversary on 26th October. Bringing together three decades of service and a growing digital banking proposition, the initiative gives expression to its identity as the Truly Sri Lankan Bank, reaching people where they live and work while making banking more accessible, simple and joyful.
Under the banner ඉතුරුම් සංග්රාමය | Operation Savings | சேமிப்புப் புரட்சி, the campaign brings World Thrift Day’s message into everyday conversations. Its purpose extends beyond opening an account: to encourage regular saving, help households prepare for future needs and introduce banking solutions that support personal ambitions. For institutions, it builds strong reserves, resilience and the means to grow. For the nation, it fuels investment and progress. When Sri Lanka saves, Sri Lanka grows.
For Pan Asia Bank, the initiative also supports deposit mobilisation and growth. Its customer focus is on choosing an appropriate account and establishing a savings routine that can continue well beyond the World Thrift Day observance. The strength of the launch was its collective staff effort. Staff of branch teams and other departments met existing and potential customers, explaining the importance of saving, product features and new accounts. These personal interactions provided opportunities to discuss and understand individual financial needs, answer questions and introduce suitable savings and investment solutions, combining local relationships with practical financial guidance.
Digital convenience formed part of that outreach. Staff introduced customers to the Bank’s online account-opening system and assisted them through the account-opening journey, subject to required verification. Pan Asia Bank’s digital onboarding channels reduce paperwork and repeated branch visits, while its Ezy Apply service supports paperless applications and video identity verification. This connects community engagement with a simpler route into formal banking.
